Citing safety concerns, Montclair is now requiring business owners who use tents or igloos to extend their operations outdoors to get permits and be inspected.
The regulations will likely mimic those on cigarettes and alcohol, which limit sales to people 21 years of age or older. Marijuana likely will be sold through dispensaries with weight limits per purchase. Public consumption will be illegal, and motorists who use it could be subject to DUI charges.
Some families of special education students have said that their children have not been doing well, academically or socially, with distance learning. Students who usually receive in-person services such as physical or occupational therapy cannot meet with therapists in person, while paraprofessionals who usually work with a child in person have to conduct one-to-one sessions electronically.
The restaurant was cited for violating state executive orders against indoor dining on three occasions on Aug. 7, Aug. 23 and Oct. 4. In August, prior to the state allowing indoor dining, police and Montclair Health Department officials were called to the restaurant for reports of patrons dining inside the restaurant.
Since December of last year, Montclair has had its own ordinance prohibiting single-use plastic bags in large chain stores.
