The One Hundred Club of Montclair will hold its 55th Anniversary Dinner Wednesday at the Glen Ridge Country Club.

The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and dinner will follow at 7 p.m. The trustees of the club will award the Giblin and Gardner Community Service Award to retired police Detective Kim Nelson-Edwards for 2021, and for 2020 posthumously to former Montclair Deputy Fire Chief Louis F. Luibil Jr.

Luibil served three decades with the Montclair Fire Department working his way up to deputy chief and later serving as the first state fire marshal under Gov. Tom Kean.

Nelson-Edwards served on the Montclair Police Department for 23 years in the Community Policing Bureau, where she attained the rank of detective and was a much-beloved presence at Montclair High School as the school resource officer, according to a press release from the One Hundred Club.

“Louie and Kim are most deserving of the Giblin-Gardner Award,” club president Michael D. Byrne said in the release.  “Although the club was unable to meet in 2020, the trustees of our organization wanted to confer the award to our former colleague, Louie, who we lost to the pandemic as well as recognize Kim for her outstanding and meritorious career.”

In addition to the presentation of the Giblin-Gardner Awards, club members will be briefed by Police Chief Todd Conforti, Fire Chief John Herrmann, and Montclair Ambulance Unit Chief Sean Coffey on the state of their departments.

Membership dues are $125, which includes the cost of the dinner. Those wishing to attend should contact secretary Patty Murphy or president Michael D. Byrne at 973-746-3280.
