A woman reported she placed her engagement ring valued at $15,000 in an office drawer while she was at work on Park Street, police said.

When she returned, the ring was no longer there. It was described as a white gold engagement ring with diamonds.

Montclair police have reported the following other incidents in their weekly police blotter:

Burglary

Wednesday, July 28 — The superintendent of a building on Roosevelt Place reported that someone attempted to open several storage lockers in the basement of the building. Some of the lockers were observed to be pried open. It was unknown at the time of the report if anything was missing.

Theft

Thursday, July 29 — The owner of a 2020 Honda Pilot reported her vehicle on South Fullerton Avenue was entered and her wristlet and change purse were removed.

Friday, July 30 — An Orange Road resident reported that two packages of shades that had been delivered by FedEx were stolen from his porch. They were valued at $7,000.

Saturday, July 31 — A man reported that his 2019 Cannondale CAADX 105SE 56 cm road bike was stolen from a storage area underneath his front steps on Pine Street. The incident reportedly occurred during the overnight hours between July 30 and July 31.

Saturday, July 31 — A person reported his bicycle was stolen from in front of his house on Union Street. The 2021 Moss Green Escape 3 L, valued at $550, was locked to a street sign.

Sunday, Aug. 1 — A person reported that after movers helped move her from her apartment on Pine Street, her iPhone 11 Pro and Airpods were missing.

Criminal mischief / assault

Monday, Aug. 2 — Officers responded to Montclair Video Boutique on Bloomfield Avenue on a report of a dispute. An employee reported an unknown person entered the business on two separate occasions, requesting wrapping papers. When he was told that the store did not sell them, the person became irate and pushed over a display case that contained merchandise. The case hit the ground and shattered. The employee sustained cuts to his hands but refused medical attention. The person was described as male, approximately 20 to 30 years old,  6 feet tall with a thin build, dark eyes and dreadlocks.

DWI

Sunday, Aug. 1 —  A 27-year-old from Montclair was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Christopher Street.
