On July 26, Essex County will begin construction on Bloomfield Avenue to modernize traffic signals and make roadway improvements.

Bloomfield Avenue, officially part of County Route 506, is owned by Essex County. The upgrades are part of the county’s project to make Bloomfield Avenue safer for motorists and pedestrians. The project encompass a 1.2-mile section beginning at the intersection of North Mountain and South Mountain avenues to the intersection of Maple Avenue and Pine Street.

Roadways will remain open throughout the construction, but there may be periods of time when certain driveways may be inaccessible, according to a July 15 notice from the county.

“The County of Essex regrets this short-term disturbance, but we are hopeful that the end product will be something that the residents of the Township of Montclair can be proud of,” the notice said.
