Montclair Film and Out Montclair are announcing a year-long partnership to collaborate on special events during Montclair Film’s festivals and during Pride 2022.

The first event will take place this Saturday, June 26 at Lackawanna Plaza and feature a screening of the film “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar,” which includes scenes filmed in Montclair. The venue opens at 7 p.m.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Out Montclair for our screening this Saturday and look forward to continuing our collaboration during the 10th annual Montclair Film Festival, Montclair Pride 2022, and beyond,” executive director of Montclair Film Tom Hall wrote in an announcement.

The organizations will focus on LGBTQ+ stories in film and programming for youth and adults. Additional events to be announced in the months ahead.

“One of the founding principles of Out Montclair was to include art in nearly everything we do,” president of Out Montclair and Councilor-at-large Peter Yacobellis wrote in the announcement. “Montclair Film has long been a destination for artists and a point of pride for our community as one of the preeminent artistic institutions in the State of New Jersey and nationwide. This partnership will elevate LGBTQ stories and increase understanding and acceptance for all in our community. We couldn’t be more excited for the year ahead together.”

Hall and Yacobellis will deliver remarks prior to the screening at approximately 8 p.m.
