Robert C. Carver of Pittsburgh, formerly of Montclair, died on May 8, 2021. He was 87.
Mr. Carver was born in Bucyrus, Ohio, in 1933 and attended Ohio State University on scholarship and Rutgers University to study music.
He worked for Time-Life in New York City and later as advertising manager for the monthly newspaper of the American Federation of Musicians.
At the same time, he continued his studies in voice and performed professionally.
The Carvers lived in Montclair for 15 years during 1980s and 1990s. They resided first on Duryea Road, then Watchung Avenue, and lastly Roosevelt Place.
They were members of the choir at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, under the direction of Charles Hunter. Mr. Carver’s wife, Jean, who survives him, was a member of the Montclair Music Club.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church, 315 Shady Ave., Pittsburgh.
