The New Jersey Blood Services, a Division of New York Blood Center, will be hosting a blood drive event at Montclair Women’s Club, located at 82 Union Street, on Thursday, May 13 from 1 to 7 p.m.

“It’s been a very challenging year for us not been able to count on the support of our corporates, high schools and colleges groups running blood drives,” Rosana Tabakci, New Jersey Blood Services’ account manager, said. “Our blood supply is reaching critical levels and we need help to continue supplying our hospitals needs for blood.”

Appointments are recommended but walk-ins will be available. To make an appointment go to nycb.org/newjerseydrive and use sponsor code 71133, or text 917-699-9073.

Interested donors must bring their donor cards or photo IDs, rest before donating blood wear masks or face coverings at all times. They will have their temperatures taken, and must be 14 days symptom-free if they are recovering from COVID-19.

Interested donors who have positive COVID-19 diagnoses or who have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days, and are currently on self-quarantine, are unable to donate blood.

SAVE MONTCLAIR LOCAL: We need your support, and we need it today. The journalism you value from Montclair Local, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, depends on the community's support — we exist because the old model of selling ads alone just can't fund journalism at the level we endeavor to provide. That's why you've seen other local newsrooms cut back staff or shut down entirely. Montclair Local was created because we believe that's unacceptable; the community's at its best when triumphs are celebrated, when power is held to account, when diverse lived experiences are shared — when the community is well-informed.

Montclair is seeking to raise $230,000 from donors, members and grantors between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 to put us on firm footing for 2022, and continue supporting the hard work of our journalists into the new year and beyond.
