The Human Needs Food Pantry — based in Montclair, and serving several communities — received a donation this week that its director said on Facebook “was accompanied by one of the most touching letters I have ever seen.”
The director, Mike Bruno, said he’d protect the donor’s identity, but wanted to share the letter itself.
“I am grateful to have a roof over my head and food to put on the table. It is not possible for me to spend the $1,400.00 stimulus check [from the most recent federal coronavirus relief legislation] on me and my family and have a clear conscience,” the donor wrote. “Please use my donation to supply food to needy families.”
Bruno said on Facebook that “with all the negativity and divisiveness in today’s world, it is important to remember that there are SO many wonderful, caring people, and this community has more than its share of them.”
