Two people have been arrested in connection with a police pursuit that left two police officers, including one from Montclair, and a civilian injured on Sept. 22.
Rajon Norwood, 48, and Kisha Eutsey, 32, both of Newark, have been charged in connection with the incident, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said.
On Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m., a Montclair police officer stopped a vehicle for various motor violations near the Crescent Parking Deck. During the vehicle stop, the officer discovered that the vehicle had been stolen. The driver took off in the vehicle, and in the process,he struck the officer with the vehicle. In the pursuit that followed through Montclair, Orange, East Orange and Newark, a responding Orange police officer and a civilian were also injured when their vehicles collided.
The pursuit ended in the area of North 6th Street in Newark when the vehicle struck a parked car belonging.
Norwood, the vehicle’s driver, has been charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest by flight and possession of drug paraphernalia. Eutsey has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property. Norwood is being held at the Essex County Jail, and Eutsey has been released.
The investigation is active and ongoing, authorities said.
