Anti-police graffiti is cropping up throughout Montclair, with officials reporting three incidents over the last two weeks.

The vandalism comes in the wake of peaceful protests calling for police reform in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

The vandalism found on stop signs and parking decks included sentiments such as “Cops R Murderers,” “Blue Lives Murder,”and “F*** Pigs!”

On June 9, vandalism was discovered in the Crescent Parking deck, mostly written in red marker. The graffiti contained “Black Lives Matter, “Blue Lives Murder,” “BLM,” “Cops R Murderers,” “Solidarity Forever,” and “Destroy Capitalism.” Retrieved surveillance leads police to believe the vandalism to have been committed on June 4 at approximately 6:45 p.m. A possible suspect is described as a dark-skinned male last seen wearing light gray sweatpants, a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, and carrying a green and gray book bag.

In another incident on June 12, police responded to a report of vandalized stop signs  at Central Avenue and Brunswick Road. Three signs had the word “Fascism” written in spray paint or ink.

On June 14, police took another report of vandalized stop signs at Midland Avenue and Walnut Street. Two signs had the word “Fascism” written in spray paint, while “F*** Pigs!” was spray painted on a stop line.
