In a pre-festival event for Succeed2gether’s Montclair Literary Festival, Colum McCann, National Book Award–winning and bestselling author of “Let the Great World Spin,” will discuss his new book, “Apeirogon,” in conversation with New York Times bestselling author and Montclair resident Garth Risk Hallberg.
The event will be on Thursday, March 12, 7 p.m., at St James’ Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road. The book is about Bassam Aramin, who is Palestinian, and Rami Elhanan, who is Israeli. Both men have lost children due to violence. It is based on a true story, after McCann met the two men, and began the novel with their blessings, including their recollections and memories. The book’s title is the name for a shape with a countably infinite number of sides.
Tickets include a copy of the book. VIP admission includes a post-event cocktail party with the author. This event is a fundraiser for Montclair-based non-profit Succeed2gether, which offers after-school one-on-one tutoring and enrichment classes with the aim of closing the education opportunity gap in Essex County.
The fourth annual Montclair Literary Festival will take place March 25 to 29. For information and tickets, visit succeed2gether.org/montclair-literary-festival/.
