minivanPolice are investigating after two 11-year-old girls claimed that a man driving a minivan, and not wearing pants, approached them and asked for directions.

The two girls were heading home from school in the area of Park Street and Buckingham Road on Jan. 24 when a minivan approached them, and the vehicle driver asked them for directions to Bloomfield Avenue. The girls reported that the driver did not appear to be wearing pants. After a brief exchange, the driver drove north on Park Street.

The minivan was light blue in color with New Jersey registration and a “stick figure” family sticker on the windshield. The man was described as a Hispanic male between 45 and 50 years of age, with short dark-colored hair and a strong accent.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call the Montclair Police Department at 973-744-1234 and ask for the on-call detective. To report any criminal and suspicious activity, residents are asked to call 911.
