Stephen “Bones” Koenig died on Jan. 16, 2020.

Mr. Koenig was a Montclair High School alumni and Verona resident.

He was born March 14, 1950 in Glen Ridge, N.J.. to William A. Koenig and Phyllis (Sherman) Koenig.

Mr. Koenig was last employed by the Verona Board of Education as their electrician. He retired in July 2018. He was a licensed electrician for over 40 years, doing residential work. He was proud owner of Koenig Electric for 10 years.

He was a member of the Commonwealth Club in Montclair, where he enjoyed weekly bowling, sports parties, and hanging with the guys.

Mr. Koenig loved collecting old furniture pieces and restoring and/or re-purposing them. He spent hours in the driveway with all his tools that he loved.

Mr. Koenig was a lifelong Yankees fan; could often be heard yelling at the TV during games. He adored Yogi Berra, and happily volunteered at his fundraiser for the Special Needs Boy Scouts of Essex county, at the Montclair Golf Club for over 20 years.

His biggest accomplishment was his sons, their college graduation and eventual gainful employment. He encouraged them to have a similar work ethic that he had.

After his retirement, Mr. Koenig and his wife Margie took an unforgettable trip to Ireland, enjoying the Guinness, the beautiful countryside, and the friendly people.

Mr. Koenig loved his family, his friends, his beer and dancing to R and B music.

He is Brother to Bill Koenig (Kris) Betsy Berra (Tim) and predeceased by Kitty Koenig Probyn (Colin). He is survived by his wife Margie and two sons Greg and Spencer.
