Last year’s winners of the Friends of Anderson Park short story contest, Maxwell Kumahor, Juniper Shelley, Madeleine Young and Suki Grabcheski, gather at Watchung Booksellers in May this year to hear their stories read. COURTESY FRIENDS OF ANDERSON PARK

Friends of Anderson Park is sponsoring its second annual short story contest. Middle schoolers at all Montclair schools — public, private or home-schooled — are eligible. Stories will be judged by professional authors. Winners will each receive $75 and be invited to a reading and reception at Watchung Booksellers in March.

Any genre and subject matter are allowed. Anderson Park must play a role in the story, which should be 500 to 2,500 words. Stories should be typed, double-spaced with numbered pages.
