Israel Cronk for BID Executive Director
Israel Cronk took over the Montclair Center Business Improvement District and totally re-energized it. The BID became a real presence in town, with activities, events, promotions, improved physical space. Under his leadership, the objects of the BID making the Montclair Downtown a prime location for visitors and residents came true. We cemented our position as the suburb to move to from New York City.
Israel resigned to pursue a business venture. The present BID director is resigning and, by a fate of coincidence, Mr. Cronk is now available. I’m sure that there are those who oppose his return for ego reasons. Israel left the BID expressing many of the same frustrations that led to the present director to resign, but these are simply challenges, not roadblocks.
The town must do what is best for the BID and the Downtown Business District. That means returning Mr. Cronk to the position he led so well.
This Friday, July 12, there will be nationwide demonstrations at 7 p.m. on behalf of the welfare of people held in detention. Their conditions should be tolerable.
The nearby demonstration locations will be at the corner of Church Street and Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair and 195 Ridgewood Ave. in Glen Ridge in front of Glen Ridge Congregational Church.
