SAFE Streets
The planning board once again pushed back on an implementation plan for Montclair’s SAFE Streets due to concern over bike paths.

This week Jaimie Julia Winters reported on Montclair’s SAFE Complete Streets implementation plan, which provides a framework for pedestrian, bicyclist and vehicular safety options when a street is scheduled for repaving and therefore would be implemented over time.

Since 2009, Montclair has had a Complete Streets Policy, but the town lacks an implementation plan. It would be the mechanism in which SAFE Streets would be carried out. But planning board members are concerned with laying out bike paths throughout the town due to safety concerns and potential parking loss.
