Hartley (Lee) Dodge Bingham Jr., 77 of Cedar Grove, formerly of Montclair, died on Sunday, April 21, 2019 after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Bingham was born in Glen Ridge on Oct. 1, 1941. He graduated from the Loomis School in 1959, Lafayette College in 1963 and Columbia Business School in 1965. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany.
Mr. Bingham began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1968, and owned and operated Elmco Distributors and Elm Manufacturers.
He co-founded the Montclair Hockey Program, served as president and trustee of the Montclair Golf Club, and served on the board of Mannington Mills Company for 35 years. He and his wife Brenda enjoyed seasonal stays at Skytop, Pa. and Santa Fe, N.M.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda (nee Landrum), two children, Hartley Dodge Bingham III and Whitney B. Crosby and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Ave., Essex Fells. For online condolences visit moriartyfh.com.
