Montclair teensThree Montclair teens were detained by police Tuesday after a passerby spotted them with what seemed to be weapons, but turned out to be pellet guns.

The three male juveniles – a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds, all of Montclair – were sighted near Charles H. Bullock School around 3:15 p.m., Police Lt. David O’Dowd said.

A passerby saw them carrying what appeared to be weapons and called police. Officers found the three nearby on Union Street, and determined that the three of them were carrying pellet guns. All three were later released to their parents.

Police did not release the names of the three due to their ages.
