Van Vleck House & Gardens offers “Summer Fun in the Garden” on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2:30-4 p.m. The program, geared toward kids and family, will include a mini lesson or discussion in the Van Vleck Visitor Center, as well as a hands-on activity or outdoor exploration. Fair weather only – check vanvleck.org or Van Vleck House & Gardens’ Facebook page for information on cancellation.

“Bats in the Garden” will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 7-9 p.m.

This program invites guests to learn about the different types of bats that live in New Jersey and other parts of the world from Joseph D’Angeli of the Wildlife Conservation and Education Center. The presentation will include the chance to meet live bats, and will be followed by a short hike to search for bats on the property. Appropriate for individuals and families with children ages 5 and up.

Registration required for both events, and there is a small fee: visit vanvleck.org, email education@vanvleck.org or call 973-744-4752 ext. 3. Van Vleck House & Gardens is at 22 Van Vleck St.
