Studio Montclair announces a call for entries for The Arts in Montclair Banner Program. SMI writes in a release, “Last year, thousands of people saw and admired the work of 10 artists displayed on our beautiful banners.”

This exhibition is for SMI members or artists who become SMI members before the work is installed. Application deadline is June 30.

The Arts in Montclair Banner Program is a component of Studio Montclair’s (SMI) Affair of the Art 2018 fundraiser. Selected work featuring the artist’s name will be displayed on banners installed prominently in Montclair’s multiple business and arts districts. Selected artwork will be featured on the SMI website, and the original artwork will be displayed in one of SMI’s gallery spaces during the fall of 2018.

Artists will be credited on all materials.Additionally, each artist will receive one free banner of their own work and be comped one ticket for the SMI Affair of the Art 2018 event (value $100). Submission deadline is June 30. The juror is Nette Forné Thomas. The exhibition will be displayed in September and October. For full details, visit studiomontclair.org.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to all SMI members or artists who become SMI members upon acceptance, with the exception of banner artists from 2017.
The original artworks will be available for sale on the SMI website. A 50 percent donation will be retained by SMI on all sales.
JUROR: Nette Forné Thomas is the current president of the Pen and Brush Inc. in NYC. She has a graduate degree from Montclair State University and was an art educator and
administrator in the Newark public schools for 36 years. Ms. Thomas also sits on the Executive Board of 1978 Maplewood Art Center and the advisory board of the George Segal Gallery at MSU.
