The Chamber Music Society of North Jersey will play under the Olmsted Oak at Anderson Park in the free “Music under the June Moon” concert on Saturday, June 9, 8 p.m.
This will be the Anderson Park concert’s third year and the CMSNJ’s third year playing there. The CMSNJ started in Montclair in 2014 by its husband-and-wife founders, Giuseppe and Jordan Fusco, who wanted to bring more chamber music to northern New Jersey.
This year’s concert will feature Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F and Felix Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in E flat, Op. 12. The concert if presented by Friends of Anderson Park and the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, with support from the Bravitas Group/Silver Family Foundation.
Jordan and Giuseppe are New Jersey natives who lived in Montclair for nearly four years before moving to West Orange. Giuseppe graduated from Rutgers and New Jersey City University. Jordan attended Montclair State University for two degrees in music, as well as a master’s degree in viola performance from Mannes College of Music. The other musicians who will perform in the park are Lily Holgate and Kenneth Trotter on violins and Liam Veuve on cello.
The Fuscos both make their livings as musicians. Giuseppe mostly plays woodwinds in Broadway orchestras, having recently finished “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Rocktopia.” Jordan plays violin and viola in many orchestras, chamber ensembles, and theater gigs, as well as teaching private lessons in Montclair and elsewhere.
In addition to presenting concerts in Anderson Park, CMSNJ has played at Grace Presbyterian Church in Montclair, Community Presbyterian Church in Mountainside and St. Andrew’s Church in Harrington Park. It has also presented numerous events that bring chamber music into the public schools.
