On Sunday, Dec. 3, from 3 to 6 p.m., Studio Montclair will hold an open house to mark the opening of its new home and gallery space at 127 Bloomfield Ave.

Studio Montclair President RitaMarie Cimini states, “Having our own dedicated space will usher in an exciting new chapter in SMI’s 20-year history. It’ll enable us to expand both the number and type of exhibits we present; we’ll now be able to show more sculpture and other 3D work. And it will be more than just an exhibit space – our new home at 127 Bloomfield Ave will help us increase our opportunities for community outreach with lecture series and educational programs.”

The Sunday event will also mark the opening exhibit in SMI’s new space, as the “Celebrate!” exhibition currently on view at the Montclair Public Library moves to 127 Bloomfield Ave in December. Curated by Mary Z Scotti to highlight Montclair’s 20th anniversary, “Celebrate!” features the work of 25 artists on the themes of achievement and triumph.

In addition to featuring an official dedication of the space by Montclair’s Mayor, Robert J. Jackson, the reception will offer attendees the opportunity to view the new space, meet and greet SMI’s Executive Board, and interact with other artists and friends of the arts. For more information, visit
