Joseph A. Wilson, 59, died on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Wilson was born on Sept. 17, 1957, in New Haven, Connecticut. He grew up in Fort Lee and lived for many years in Montclair.

Mr. Wilson was a master carpenter and cabinet maker, a fantastic chef and could make anything grow in his yard or in the many containers on his porch. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

He was preceded in death by his parents Agnes Elsie (Wildermuth) Wilson and James Marvyn Wilson.

He is survived by his wife Heather and five siblings, Susan (Stewart Schmehl) Wilson, Jim (Kitten Meyers) Wilson, Jeff (Larry Allen) Wilson, Elizabeth (Robert) Sofia, and Phoebe Wilson. He had seven nephews and one niece as well as two great nephews.

“A Celebration of the Life of Joe” will be at Tierney’s Tavern, 138 Valley Road Montclair on Oct. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. and the family wishes that memorial donations be made to Samaritan Colony, 136 Samaritan Drive, Rockingham, NC. For online condolences visit moriartyfh.com.
