It was moving day Monday, July 17, for the Carriage House, as the red brick building was relocated from the back of the site of the Georgian Inn. It wasn’t much of a move, since the structure was just wheeled a short distance, to the side of the property that faces Claremont Avenue.

Montclair developer Steven Plofker is redeveloping the inn, which is on the corner of Claremont and North Mountain avenues, expanding the hotel from 17 to 32 rooms, according to Kevin Costello, who is development director for Willow Street Partners, Plofker’s company.

The hotel will also be rebranded as “The George,” Costello said. The developer is turning the Carriage House into a 7,500-square- foot medical office building.
