The nearly 500 members of the Montclair High School Class of 2017 bid farewell to their high school days during a festive outdoor ceremony Thursday evening in the school’s amphitheater.

Benilde Little, the author of “Good Hair” and “Who Do You Think You Are,” and a Montclair resident, was the guest speaker. Cristi Kennedy, the class president, and Julianna Wittmann, the student consortium president, also delivered speeches.

The ceremony concluded with a playing of the alma mater, and a reception on the school lawn. The class themselves later departed in a procession of buses for the Project Graduation festivities, with parents and friends lining the procession route as it made its way through Montclair.

This year marks the 150th graduating class from Montclair High School.
